Akiko, the Flying Monkey

Australian Premiere

‘[Director Veit] Helmer is a hugely accomplished filmmaker with a diverse body of work dating back 35 years.’ – Variety

When young monkey Akiko escapes from the zoo, he embarks on an adventurous and joyful journey, forming an unlikely alliance with an eagle, a raccoon and a chameleon. Together, Akiko's new animal friends will help him achieve his goals of reuniting with his family and freeing all the animals in the city.

At first glance, this funny and exciting adventure for the whole family is a film that takes place in the world we know.  But we soon realise there is a fantastic parallel world, all around us, where so many different animals live hidden in letterboxes, bottle banks and traffic lights, offering us a new perspective on the cities we live in.
