Dr Paul Roberts performance artist and Nadav Masel musician will together weave playfully expertly and experimentally, improvised contemporary dance, music, storytelling, and song.
At every meeting in the creative process culminating in this performance, the artists have been accompanied by their water bottles - this performance is an imaginative take on what these small but attentive witnesses to their creative process have been thinking about this whole time.
By looking from outside themselves at the seemingly private space of the rehearsal studio, these artists learn about letting go of desires to establish themselves as artists. Instead, by imagining a selfless, loving attendance to their process by a small unassuming audience member, who really only wants to serve them, water, the artists have invited a softening of themselves and how they regard their work. With this performance, they attempt to lay it out for all to see. This is their imperfect attempt to be both meaningful and helpful as all the world bears down harshly upon us. An attitude of generosity and of honesty will underpin the night's improvised content by these highly trained and experienced performers. Do you want to know what a water bottle says when asked "What do you see?" Spoiler * it doesn't say anything! But it does sing beautifully.
