Paracinema Fest have a story to tell you: ‘it is a love story… LOVE OF ACTION!’

Wakaliga, Uganda - home of da best of da best movies! Action-flick fanatic Nabwana Isaac Godfrey Geoffrey (I.G.G.) has directed dozens of films, with the help of his community, his DIY computing genius, and his local scrapyard.

WHO KILLED CAPTAIN ALEX? - Uganda's first action movie - was made in 30 days for under $200. Using real blood, and a modified car jack for a tripod, it became a sensation throughout the slums of Uganda and went viral across the world. Part political war drama, part kung-fu epic, part iMovie-CGI masterpiece, the insanity is hyped even more with the accompanying voiceover from VJ Emmie, who, in keeping with Ugandan movie-going tradition, riffs over the film with hilarious narration.

Six years later, Nabwana I.G.G. and his team return (along with VJ Emmie), to blow everyone’s mind once again with BAD BLACK, which won the Audience Award at Fantastic Fest 2016. It’s hard not to love a film which features a no-nonsense ghetto kid/kung-fu master named Wesley Snipes.

We are stoked to be presenting both CAPTAIN ALEX and BAD BLACK in a supa-dupa action-packed double feature. Welcome to Wakaliwood.
