The Story

Fifth of Nisan returns every Tuesday night this November with a four-part residency of genre-bending klezmer jazz: cinematic, immersive, and full of chutzpah.

Known for their infectious energy and eclectic sound, the seven-piece ensemble weaves Eastern European melodies with jazz, world, and contemporary grooves.

Each night is built around a theme to accompany JIFF — Lights, Sound, Camera, Action — and features a curated program designed to blur the lines between music, film, ritual, and celebration.

  • 4 Nov - Lights: An atmospheric night of illumination, ritual, and light design. With each song lit to match mood and meaning, this opening night explores the role of light in Jewish tradition and cinema.
  • 11 Nov - Sound: A deep dive into texture and tone, featuring special guest instrumentalists. Expect an immersive night of sonic exploration and cross-cultural musical conversation.
  • 18 Nov - Camera: Where live music meets moving image. Archival footage, Jewish film excerpts, and visual storytelling create a live, stylised “movie” with the band as your on-stage directors.
  • 25 Nov - Action: The finale. A high-energy, standing-room dance party. Driven by dance beats, rhythmic pulse, and pure Jewish joy, this closing night brings the residency to an unforgettable climax.

Presented alongside the Jewish International Film Festival, this residency is a live musical counterpart to the cinema program, showcasing live music, film-inspired storytelling, and cultural celebration.

Come be part of it, every Tuesday night this November.
