The most unique dark genre movie of the year, writer/director Lahiff’s tour-de-force of movement, traversing a mostly nocturnal NYC, is a sight to be heard. From its pulsating opening credits, SUN is here to seize your soul. We’ve seen intergenerational trauma and possession before, but nothing quite like this. Vibrantly lensed (on film), a throbbing techno soundtrack, and charismatic performances from the two leads – contemporary dance pioneer, Cordell “Storm” Purnell, and Lauren Kelisha Miller. An extraordinary hybrid of sound and fury that bursts from the screen.
