Iconic Melbourne jazz pianist Bob Sedergreen has collaborated with so many wonderful musicians during his sixty years of music making in Melbourne. Tonight’s special guest Peter Gaudion, trumpet & vocal, has led the band Blues Express through a lifetime which has established it as a premier group in Melbourne. Peter also had his own Jazz Club, in the heart of Lonsdale Street Melbourne. As a member of Blues Express Bob has Peter to thank for establishing the fact that American musicians could play and record with their Melbourne counterparts. The Blues Express pioneered this in the recording of ‘Spoon in Australia’. Tonight, Peter will have the pleasure of playing with two new musicians Gareth Hill on bass, who has immediate rapport with Bob, both Bob and Gareth filling the bass and piano chair in BLOW and also The Ted Vining Trio. Bob is always excited to have Mark Voogd on drums. Mark is an excellent jazz player not only specialising in swing grooves but able to play a multitude of time feels at the right dynamic level. This will be a night of carefree fun and adventure.
